10 things I'm grateful for

It's been a while since I had one of these posts. It's not that I haven't been grateful, it's just that I've been perfecting this juggling act!

1. Oven Fan. A bizarre thing to be grateful for - unless you need to fix meals and get a baby to sleep at the same time. We use the oven fan even when it's not needed because it's soothing for Abby.

2. Lola. I'm so thankful for having a dog while we have a toddler running around. Especially since said toddler can now open the Snack Traps. ugh.

3. Maternity Leave. Today is my last day. I'm spending it getting an oil change and organizing closets. I lead an exciting life.

4. Dunkin' Donuts. I'm hooked on Dunkin's coffee and lattes.

5. Ellen - She is just so darn funny. I look forward to watching her every day!

6. Play dates. Before maternity leave is over, we will have had play dates with Kristin & Ethan, Hayley & Jackson, Ashley, Hayden and her Abby, and Dory & Dorothy. I even had to cancel several while the kiddos were sick!

7. Houzz - we are getting an itch to redo our kitchen (still a while away) and this app/website is great for ideas. It's like just for your house! Great place to spend some time while rocking a baby at 2am!

8. My Baylor cup. We are inseparable. I think I must take her to work with me when I start back. Did I just say "her"?

9. Bows. I love them!! So much fun to accessorize a girl! And I just looked at my cousin Mary's blog and her 6 year old was wearing a scarf. I got excited about fun girly accessories (that are not jewelry since we don't know if my allergy/sensitivity will pass to Abby).

10. Doors. Specifically I'm thankful that Grant can't open them. We sleep with a fan next to our bed for white noise. I keep the monitor for Abby on all night but don't switch on Grant's until 6:30 or 7am. This made me think he slept peacefully all night. Maybe he did. Or maybe not! Now that I'm up with Abby in the night, I hear him jabber and/or kick the wall from his bed almost every night. Maybe his cough or Abby's crying wakes him and this is just a short term fluke...

Ten things I'm thankful for

1. Experimenting with finger food - Grant tried some green beans and carrots from my veggie beef soup last week.

2. Slow tendus with port de bras. My favorite part of ballet class!


3. Big boy baths - Grant gets so excited, he kicks his legs, which causes him to slide down the tub to the drain.


4. Waking up and thinking - what is that outside?! It was light. I can't remember the last time I slept until it was light outside. It was 7:20 a.m.


5. Derek singing the songs from all of Grant's new toys. And being Derek, he never gets the lyrics quite right.

6. Grant's new tricks - sticking out his tongue and doing push ups. He sticks his tongue out from the side of his mouth. Adorable.

7. Time spent sewing Derek's stocking. I'm on Step 41 now!! 8. Grant being an angel at dinner. We went to Fireside Pies last night, and our angel slept the entire time.


9. NFL Football on a Saturday.


10. Toothless smiles - we won't have this much longer. We better enjoy it now!

Ten things I'm grateful for...

1. Rach & Jesse's AC going out Memorial Day weekend. I'm especially thankful for Jesse capturing Grant's first hours alive and our first hours as parents:


2. Kicking file drawers shut - so invigorating

3. Taco Bell's Cantina tacos

4. My iPhone - it's a little crushing to admit it, but I do like having it.

5. Great friends that drive "out of town" for my hubby's bday. (Thanks to Adolph, Erin, Lane, Lolly, Cat, Jill, Kyle, Clint, Shauna, Rach & Jesse)

6. Great friends that have family members knit gifts/props for Grant (Thanks Rach)

7. Great friends that welcome us with open arms when our AC goes out (Thanks Jill & Jeff)

8. Great friends that make time for you when they have no time to give (Thanks Meadow)

9. Meeting neighbors - we met 2 neighbors & 4 kiddos on our walk this evening

10. Pics of crying babies. Comment to back me up on this Again, maybe I'm soul-less... maybe it reminds me of my Aunt Wanda... maybe it's just ADORABLE!

Ten things I'm grateful for...

Following the lead of Tessa and Rachel, I want to post about the little things - the simple blessings that make me happy!

1. Driving past cows, horses and bales of hay on my way to work. Even though the electrical lines and defunct power station kinda ruin the country feel, it's nice to day dream about a horse's life in the midst of a hectic day.

2. The sounds Grant makes when he's waking up... before the crying starts!

3. Football season

4. The license plate game that me and Derek play.

5. Seeing an old man in a suit & hat at the courthouse.

6. Having a great boss. We've been in trial all week, working long hours, yet he still thought to tell me (on more than 1 occassion) that he realizes how hard this week is on me - juggling work and baby.

7. Margaritas on a hot summer evening (or any evening)

8. Hand-me-downs from my favorite sister! Actually, I could easily come up with 10 things I'm grateful for out of the tons of gear that she's passed on to me.

9. Friends that are patient enough to endure long photo shoots with Grant or put up with harassment from my family!
