Trip to Red Oak

The kids' daycare was closed today, so we headed out to visit Grandma Rose and Papa's house. My mom had made spaghetti. The kids had so much fun playing and the weather was perfect. We got home just in time for the showers to start!

Catching up

Today I met up with an old friend from junior high. We had lost touch, but while her newborn slept, we picked up right where we had left off. It was exactly what I needed today and hopefully we don't lose touch again.

Hop hop hop!

This weekend was full of fun.
On Saturday, my sis and Megan had their bday parties. We popped in for a bit but didn't stay long. My friend has an annual "bunny hop" pub crawl and we've never been able to make it. Until this year!!
We hopped from bar to bar and had a great time. My tail was a bundled up scarf that Gaumy made for me years ago!!

Sunday was full of the typical laundry, groceries, cooking and cleaning... but then we went to the Sheps' for a cookout. The kids wanted their sunglasses on the way. I love how Grant uses them! ;)

Cheese!!!

I tried to make the kids say "CHEESE" for the camera in the car this morning...
Thanks, Grant...

Last night we met up with the Gabriels. Cy read them a story, then we tried to put them to bed (the solution: all different beds). Once they were set, we played Joker and cribbage for hours!

Blastball - Let's go Mudcats!!

Today was the first practice for the Mudcats. Derek is coaching Grant's first year of tee ball. But it's called blastball and it's got even fewer rules than tee ball.

The practice was pretty predictable - several kids were late because the field is hard to find. Grant pointed out an airplane. Other boys played in dirt for about half of the practice. Another picked a dandelion.

Besides hitting and fielding, the kids practiced saying "1, 2, 3 - Mudcats!"

St. Patty's weekend

We met up with the Conroys on Saturday night. We grabbed ice cream afterwards too.
On Sunday we made corned beef & cabbage. We colored some eggs so the kids can practice before the real egg hunt in April. Abby took a loooong nap. She has been sleeping with her head at the foot of the bed. What's better than a sleeping child? Not much really!

Weekend fun

This weekend we met up with some college friends out at the Stockyards.
We had a good time, but we left pretty early. We are old and also couldn't handle the fact that they still allow smoking at bars in the Stockyards, so we were home before midnight.

The next day was a lazy Sunday. I met up with the girls for brunch at Taverna. Wow - the breakfast calzone was amazing!!
The weather was great so after naps the boys rode their bikes around and I pulled out my good camera.

Hot dates!

February was the month of dates for us. On the 8th, we went to a wedding without the babies.

Then on the 11th, we went to an event at Cowboys AT&T Stadium. The event was for lawyers all over the country. We were in the first group of the tour. When our locker room tours were done, we passed another group. Derek said he saw Ed Hochuli, so we decided to join their group. Sure enough - we snapped a shot with Ed Hochuli!

On the 12th, we celebrated Valentine's Day by going to dinner (again - without babies) at a Mexican food place we'd heard about in Grapevine. It's not new by any means, but it was new to us. Ummmmm wow. The brisket tacos will knock your socks off! Just as good as Mia's if you ask me and that's saying a lot. It's called Baja Grill. Go there. Hot sauce and 'ritas are good too, but skip the queso.

On Valentines, we went to Mattito's as a family of 4. The kids were pretty good!

The weather on the 15th was perfect. We had a morning trip to Costco, then packed up a picnic lunch and spent some time at the Duck Pond. In the evening, Derek and I went to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. We had a special invitation that included cocktails, appetizers, and dinner before the show.

We ended the month with a weekend getaway to San Antonio and Austin. The kiddos spent time with Mimi and Papa. We all made it home just before March decided to laugh at us and throw some ice in our face. I blame you, Punxsatawney Phil.

Daddy/daughter dance

Derek and Abby went to the Daddy/daughter dance at day care. While they were at the dance, Grant and I had a dance party at home.

Learning

Abby is still learning about potty training. She "got it" when we did the 3 day boot camp 2 months ago, yet she still manages to forget it about twice a week. While she's still learning about potty-training, Grant is learning letters. Tonight Abby had an accident before I got home. When I got home, Grant asked me:

What does 'crapped her pants' start with?!

I couldn't stop laughing. And I was so proud of Derek for saying "crapped" instead of the alternative!
